ABOUT US

The Socrates Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization, incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1995. As an independent developer and evaluator of educational programs, we are dedicated to making a difference in society by supporting the work of all teachers, whatever their cultural, linguistic, or social backgrounds.

Much of our current work has been in the design of curricula in science and technology, including a high school teacher's guide in biotechnology and an evaluation of astronomy software. But we are quite diverse in our interests and abilities. For example, we trained teachers from several countries to implement a young inventors interdiciplinary program for elementary and middle schools, and we wrote an early childhood curriculum in golden rule education. Our current work includes a K-12 project in CyberEthics which will have classroom, video, and web-based learning materials. For more details, see our Mission, Officers and Board, Staff Biographies, Press Room.
